There’s no hiding that stacked/layered dainty jewelry is more trendy now than ever and sis, I am here for it! It’s a nice change to say goodbye to chunky costume jewelry and hello to more timeless pieces that you can style alone or stacked. Today I’m going to share some of my tips and tricks on how I like to stack jewelry, specifically necklaces!
First let’s talk about jewelry in general. Please remember that you get what you pay for! If you purchase a $10 necklace be aware that it may tarnish quicker than say a $30 necklace. Also, yes you CAN mix gold, silver, rose gold, etc. I personally don’t but there’s nothing wrong with that if you prefer that look!
Just about every day I wear my go-to gold necklaces because they’re trendy + easily match every look. Every few weeks or months I switch up my stack but I would say majority of the time you’ll see me in the same 3 necklaces.
If you’re starting from square one, I would recommend finding a necklace that you absolutely love and build on that! For example, I love my ‘K’ initial necklace from Amazon so typically that’s what I start with when stacking. I think a personalized necklace wether it be yours or your loved one’s initial, name, birthday, birthstone, etc. is great to include because it means something to you! I’ll link some of my favorite personalized & individual necklace options below that would all be a great start!
Okay so once you have one necklace that you love, you’re going to want to start adding more that compliment that length. I feel like length is the biggest difficulty people have with layered necklaces. Keep in mind that you want the end goal to look somewhat balanced. For example, please don’t pair a 14″ choker with a 22″ chain and call it a day – not cute lol. Does that make sense? I’ll include a chart below to make life a little easier for you when deciding what lengths to get! I usually like to keep all necklaces between 14 and 20 inches when stacking them together.
If you’re still finding it difficult to stack your necklaces then try purchasing a necklace that is attached and already layered for you! In the photo of me above I actually have my ‘K’ initial necklace paired with an already attached together necklace from Express. When I originally purchased this necklace it had three chains on it but I hated one of them so I simply cut it off lol. I didn’t really mind because it was under $20 and side note, I’m actually super surprised that it’s been holding up so well! Good for you Express. I’ll link some already layered necklaces below for you to checkout!
I really hoped that these little tips and tricks help those of you struggling to stack your necklaces. Remember that jewelry is about self expression, so you really can’t go wrong with whatever look you choose! If you need some more visual inspo, I would search ‘layered necklaces’ on Pinterest.
I’m going to link some of my favorite jewelry shops below that I like to purchase dainty and affordable necklaces from. Happy Styling, babes!
