Hey, hi, hello! We gather here today to learn my favorite spots to take outfit photos in Pittsburgh and dude, I honestly can’t believe I’m sharing all my secret spots that it’s LEGIT taken years to find!!
But hey, I just moved to Nashville (prob for a few years) and realized how hard it is to find clean/aesthetic spots in a city you have no idea where anything is. So if I can help anyone in my industry who has just moved to the area or locals who are just starting out (whoevaa you are) with this blog post it’ll be so worth it.
Reminder to Please be respectful when shooting in these locations. Do your thing and then peace out lol. Also you have to promise that once I move back to Pittsburgh we can share the spot if I find you there when I go to shoot lol.
When looking for locations, I really try to find anything with a neutral vibe thats clean. Clean sidewalks, new construction, textured city buildings, etc. So if you’re into that look, this should help. Enjoy!
Downtown locations
808 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15222
This address is going to take you to Arby’s but this corner is located right next to it! Since downtown gets crowded I recommend shooting here on the weekends and with someone else to take the photo. This street is not tripod friendly due to how busy it is.
Forbes Garage (11 Cherry way)
One of my absolute favorite locations to shoot fashion in general is a parking garage — they are so tripod friendly! Just be safe and pay attention to your surroundings. This one is my favorite for rooftop skyline shots. Sometimes the top floor is closed to cars (which is great for photos) so you may need to park lower and take the elevator up. The different tones of buildings photograph so beautifully and the random corners around the garage are cute too.
Garage at the corner of Duquesne Blvd and Stanwix Street
If it’s raining, come here! It’s a parking garage so it’s covered and one of the top floors is almost always empty and has huge windows to bring in a good amount of light. Very tripod friendly & no workers have ever kicked me out lol.
The William Penn Hotel
This area in general is my go-to for city shots! I park in the underground garage right in front of the hotel, change outfits in the car and get so many looks done with different backgrounds because there are lots of options within that square. The first is in front of the The William Penn Hotel. I love this area especially around the holidays because they decorate it so nicely. The valet guys have always been super nice too about photos.
The corners of Smithfield Street by The William Penn Hotel
There are two corners I really like to shoot at. If you want a busy, city life background go for the corner in front of Burlington Coat Factory. You will need someone to shoot you because it get’s pretty busy during the week due to people working downtown. You can see this location in the far right photo. The other corner I love is about a block over, still in front of the hotel. I recommend shooting after work hours or on the weekend because the building on the far right below is government owned apparently?? The security guard yelled at me once lol.
Locations on the North side of Pittsburgh
The Block at Northway
This shopping center has a ton of cute corners to take a quick outfit photo! I have used my tripod before and no one has bothered me. Just be cautious of the light because if it’s a sunny day, the light can be harsh.
Locations on the East Side of Pittsburgh
Building across from DePaul School for Hearing and Speech
I have no idea what the address to this building is so we’re calling it Kelsey’s wall because I swear I shot here so many times! It’s on the side of the school and on a pretty slow street behind my old apartment building right off South Highland. Very tripod friendly and never disappoints. You can park right in front of the building on the street which makes for easy car assess. DO NOT change in your car, there is a school across the street.
East Liberty First National Bank on the corner of South Highland
The front, the side and even the back in the alley are all great photo spots! This area of town is a gold mine for backdrops, at least the vibe I like.
Outside of East Side Bond Apartments
Black & white brick building with clean side walks and landscaping.
Loreli Restaurant
The inside is adorable, I have taken a few photos in there before on my iPhone but since the windows are crystal clear, you also get the adorable vibes from the outside too!
Outside Adda Coffee & Tea
Not sure why but I really like the tones of Adda! The gold sign & plants in the window make for a warmer city feel.
The Garage next to Choolaah (also right outside the garage)
Ahh one of my favorites because it’s so low key! It’s a great garage option if you’re in the area. All of the above are somewhat in the same area so you could park nearby and get a lot of different looks.
The Vandal in Lawrenceville
The food is also amazing they just have weird hours. I like shooting in front of even inside the Vandal, the black & white tile adds something unique to the background!
Streets of Lawrenceville (outside No.14)
No.14 Boutique has a black and white building with clean lines. While you’re there stop into the boutique, it’s adorable! I’m friends with the owner Bri and she is one of the sweetest people I’ve met in Pittsburgh.
