It’s my favorite time of year and with that comes Christmas decor! I love interior design on a normal day, so you can only imagine what happens to my home during Christmas time hah! Last year was James and I’s first Christmas living together and tbh we didn’t have much of a budget to work with for decor. So we went with a small tree, nothing crazy. Now that we have some wiggle room in the budget, you best believe I dragged his butt to HomeGoods, Target, all the places to shop with me for some stuff that we can have for years to come.
My apartment has been Christmas ready since the second week of November. I’m sure you’re thinking something like, GIRRRRL U CRAY. But really with blogging, I have to! I had a Christmas campaign that needed shot November 20th and had to go out on the blog on Black Friday. As a blogger, my job is to create content for you guys so that when you need it, it’s there and ready to go. So basically I’m always 2 months ahead!
Okay so now that you have a little back story, it’s time to get into the actual decor details! I’ve been showing my place on Instagram stories and have been getting a ton of questions, so I thought I’d include everything in a blog post for ya’ll. This year I really wanted to turn my apartment into a winter wonderland. Reason #1 being because of photos, duh and reason #2 it makes me so happy! I purchased almost everything you see in the photos below from either Target, HomeGoods, Athome or Walmart.
So the first step when looking to spruce up your place for the holidays is to decide what areas you want to focus on. First and foremost, think of what room you want to decorate and then think of what areas in that room you will need decor for. For example, if you’re looking to decorate your bathroom you would probably want things like: a holiday candle, some holiday themed hand towels, maybe even a Santa soap dispenser. I would suggest, before you hit the store to make a plan! This way you know exactly what you need and won’t go over budget. Also – I will try to link as much stuff as I can in this post but some things are not available online.
I decided that since we live in a very open loft, that this year I will really only be decorating our main living/dining area. A great area to start is with your entertainment center/mantle – whatever is the focus of your living room. Since we don’t have a mantle, I decide to turn my TV stand into one! I picked a theme (red and gold with greenery) and added some stockings, garland, candles, etc. and made sure that there were different textures and levels to the decor so that it was balanced out on each side.
Stockings – (red) Target $13 (white) HomeGoods from last season

This year I decided to save some money on coffee table decor and just use what I had from last year. I took the current gold and glass tray that we use and just filled it with bulbs, pinecones and random dollar store garland. I think it turned out cute! I feel like this is such a simple and easy decor idea for a coffee or dining table.
Gold/frosted Pine Cones – Amazon $15
Gold Mirrored Tray – Target $82
Pillows – Hobby Lobby (surprisingly an affordable place for throw pillows!)
Coffee Table – Wayfair $220 (on sale)

This year I really wanted to do a hot cocoa bar and since I found this super cute bar cart at Target on sale, I knew it was a sign to do it. Can you believe that almost everything you see here is from the Target dollar section? Total (minus the big plant, Kurig, rug and bar cart) cost me $40! I’m telling ya ladies, the Target dollar section is what dreams are made of. But since you can’t really find these items online, I’ll try to link what I can!

4 Gold and Marble Coasters (under mini tree) – Amazon $20

And last but definitely not least, our Christmas tree! Since we have high ceilings in our new apartment we wanted to get a taller tree this year. We went with a 7.5 ft. frosted pre-lit tree from Walmart. I’m telling you guys, go to Walmart for your tree! This same exact tree at AtHome was $250. At Walmart we paid $170. WOOOOOO!
