Lash Extensions | House of L’Ashley

Lashes are in the top 5 of my most asked questions on Instagram so I am very happy to finally be able to provide you with some more information on them. Enjoy and I hope this helps!

What are Lash extensions?

Lash extensions are individual lashes that come in different lengths, thicknesses and curls. The extensions are applied to your natural lashes, creating a bond, and as the natural lash sheds, a baby lash grows and that’s when you would get a fill!

Where do you go?

I go to Ashley at House of L’Ashley located on Butler Street! She’s bomb and I have been going to her for almost 2 years. The environment of her salon is so welcoming, relaxing, friendly and clients get to have their lashes done in super comfy recliners.

If you want to try House of L’Ashley, tell her I sent you for 15% off!

What do you get?

I get hybrid, which is a mixture of classic and volume.

Are they Expensive?

When it comes to lash extensions, you get what you pay for. Saving some money or going with the easiest salon choice can result in either poorly applied lashes, damage to your natural lashes or even infected lashes EEEEK! Artists that don’t do that hot are the reason why people are scared to try lash extensions. So do your research and invest in a good artist.

Whenever you get lash extensions, you’re going to pay more for your full set than you will for fills. Think the concept of getting acrylics done as it’s super similar! Also – the total price will vary based on your lashes as some people have naturally fuller lashes than others. Here are Ashley’s prices so that you can compare.

Classis Full Set – $125-$150

Hybrid Full Set – $150-175 (This is what I get done)

Volume Full Set – $175-$1200

The cost of Lash fills will depend on how long you wait to get a fill. Here are Ashley’s prices for fills.

Classic 1,2,3 week fill – $35, $45, $55

Hybrid 1,2,3 week fill – $45, $55, $65

Volume 1,2,3 week fill – $55,$65,$75

Any recommendations on helping with longevity?

Brush them in the morning and night and don’t wear mascara.

Are they heavy?

Nope, not even a little!

Do they bother you at all?

Nope! The only thing that sucks getting used to is not being able to rub your eyes. Now, instead of rubbing my entire eye if it’s itchy or just when I wake up, I rub my eye lid.

What is the upkeep / how long do they last?

It totally just depends on the person! We all have different lash cycles, which means that we are naturally loosing and growing lashes. I get mine done every 2 weeks but you can wait up to 3 weeks!

How long does the process take?

For a full set about 2 hours, a fill 1 hour. It’s a great opportunity for nap time.

Do they damage your real lashes? Have you lost any real lashes?

Biggest misconception about lash extensions right here!

Did you know that we all lose our natural lashes, like everyday? It’s called our lash cycle and that basically means that our lashes are going through a natural shedding process on a regular basis. This is why when you get lash extensions they fall out because they are falling out with the real lashes that they are attached as that is what our bodies naturally do. This also makes sense as to why we have to get them filled every few weeks.

For me personally, they have not damaged my lashes but again, this part really depends on your lash artist. Ashley explained to me that there are 2 ways your lashes can be damaged from extensions. 1) If your artist uses too much glue. 2) If your artist uses too heavy of lashes causing your natural lashes to break off. I mentioned that I had lash extensions consistently for about 2 years now however, I did have a 4 week break in between and during that time my natural lashes still looked healthy.

Does sleeping on them mess them up?

I sleep on my left side and my lashes for sure show it. I would say they my left lashes just don’t look as full as my right after about a week and a half. I honestly wouldn’t say its bad though, like have you ever noticed in my IG stories or photos?

How do you clean them?

I use a clean makeup brush and scrub lightly in circular motions with the Splash lash cleanser I got from L’Ashley’s.

Can you wear makeup with them?

You can! Eye shadow isn’t a problem at all you may just want to clean up some fall out at the end of the night. If I wear liquid liner I will just make sure I clean really close to my lash line with a Q-tip. Mascara I only wear if I absolutely have to or just wanna be extra because it’s kind of annoying to clean off.

Can you get them wet?

Yes! The only time they need to remain dry is 24 hours after application.

Is there a way to safely remove lashes without ripping your natural lashes off?

Go to your lash artist to get them removed.

What do I do if the glue makes my eyes red or watery?

This is normal to happen sometimes during/right after your appointment. If it’s an ongoing issue, consult with your lash artist as you may have an allergy to the glue. After your eyes get used to it, this won’t happen. My eyes haven’t turned red or burned from the lash glue in forever.

How do you know if the artist is good or not?

Do your research and look at their work! Instagram is amazing for this. Also, if you’re in a new or unfamiliar area, search the hashtag #(location)blogger or #(location)beautyblogger. 9/10 you will find a local blogger or influencer who gets their lashes done or goes to a salon that also offers lashes. See if they have a blog post or story highlight to get more information. If you can’t find anything but you can tell that they’re into beauty, don’t be afraid to DM them and ask for recommendations!
