Hey guys! To be honest, I’ve been wanting to do a blog post for forever now that lets you guys shop depending on your body type. I really hate putting bodies in categories of shape because all of our bodies are so beautifully unique, but this is the easiest way to help a lot of you guys all at once.
Before we get into it I want to share that I worked as a Stitch Fix Stylist for a few years so I do have training in virtually styling different body types. Fingers crossed this post helps you not only if you’re shopping for an upcoming event but styling your body in general! Lastly, I just want to specify that you can wear whatever you want and look amazing! All of the dresses linked below really could work on any body shape if you have the correct size. These are just suggestions to what technically “flatters” your shape best. It’s all about what you feel good in, sister.
Triangle shape, narrow shoulders & waist is wider than bust with fuller hips/booty.
So when it comes to dresses we’re going to look for ones that will play up your upper body and flatter your lower half. Look for open backs, fun/dramatic sleeves, and belted/cinched at the upper waist styles. Anything with the A-line shape will look BOMB on you! Below are some of my favorites for this body shape.
Curvy shape, well-defined waist & you may have fuller bust, hips, and thighs.
Hello my fellow hourglass queen! Dresses are my absolute favorite to wear so I’m excited to help you! With our shape, we’re going to want to stick with a wrap dress style or my fav, fit & flare. Also, tight/bodycon styles are perfect if you want something to flaunt your curves! Dresses to be cautious of are super flowy styles. I still wear flowy dresses because I don’t really give a fuck but if we’re talking flattering for body shapes, the loose look won’t be the best for you unless you add a belt. Below are some of my favorites for this body type.
Inverted triangle, generally well-proportioned. Not necessarily as curvy through the hips & don’t have a well-defined waist.
Hey you cutie little Apple queen! Wrap-style dresses typically look bomb on you as well as shift-style dresses. Rock a mini to show off your legs or if you’re more comfortable, try a maxi length with a lower necklace to balance everything out. Below are some of my favorite options for this body type.
Rectangle or straight shape. Your waist isn’t well-defined, but rather straight up and down.
Seriously jealous because the slip dress was made for you and you can pretty much rock anything! A jumpsuit option would be cool for you too! If you’re looking to create more of a waistline, however, go for dresses that cinch in the waist or have an attached belt. Below are some of my favorite options for this body type.
Now go out there and live your best fucking life in that new dress! Hope this helped! 🙂
